1. What is new?
Identify the event and its date. An announced plan, a completed activity and a measured result are different kinds of information.
2. What is the source?
Open the original announcement. Read its tables, qualifications and supporting documents alongside the headline.
3. What is the scale?
Record the units, sample type, location and period. For drilling, check the interval length and whether true width is known. Check whether a result applies to one sample, one project or the whole business.
4. What is still uncertain?
Look for assumptions, historical data, approvals, financing needs and work that has yet to be completed.
5. What would provide more information?
Note the next reported activity or document. Keep the original source and date with your notes so that later announcements can be compared on the same basis.
